Powerhouse Stockholm Life
The project Powerhouse Stockholm Life aims at developing tailor-made tools and processes to improve the cooperation and knowledge transfer among small and medium life science companies, academic and healthcare spheres. Such tools and processes aim at making it possible for companies to reach collaboration opportunities, clients, capital, closing of contracts, reach their markets faster and increase the efficiency of their operations. The project will last three years and is funded from EU’s structural funds by approximately 10 MSEK.
Three main goals
In cooperation with other actors, the goals are to develop tools adapted to existing needs to support life science companies in the region so that:
- existing life science companies located in the region from Uppsala to Strängnäs (regardless of their provenience) can grow;
- new life science companies within Stockholm Life Solna-Stockholm can start business;
- Stockholm Life Solna-Stockholm can attract established life science companies.
How is this done?
To begin with, Powerhouse Stockholm Life takes the temperature of the Norra Station/ Karolinska area. In other words, the project performs regular quantitative studies on the existing life science corporate tissue. How many companies are there? Employing how many people? Generating how much revenue?
In parallel to that, Powerhouse Stockholm Life coordinates the usage of different tools and qualitatively assesses how functional they are.
Who is behind the project?
Powerhouse Stockholm Life is led by a steering group with representatives of KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Karolinska Institutet Science Park, real estate actors and Stockholm Science City Foundation. Stockholm Medtech Growth, Stockholm University, real estate owners and the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth – Tillväxtverket have adjunct members.
